Israel’s current military operation in Gaza is a human tragedy, leading many to ask, isn’t there a better way? Sometimes it’s better to simply watch the videos. The first is an excellent documentary by ESPN’s Jeremy Schaap, exposing some troubling views within Israel, manifested by the composition and support of their leading soccer team, Beitar Jerusalem F.C. I highly recommend this video, it is very enlightening.
Modern humanity risks eventual extinction from any number of causes, but the most likely will arise from a failure to manage our limited resources, or alternatively, to intentionally destroy each other. Are we the next dinosaurs? Are we the next inhabitants of earth to prove unable to sustain our species and civilization?
The President must communicate clearly to Congress, the American people, and the world—exactly what our objectives are, both long and short, establishing a unified vision for the future of Syria.
There is an uncomfortable similarity between current events in East Jerusalem and what transpired throughout Europe during WWII. Many Israeli “activist” citizens see the injustice and are standing proudly against it—a testament that some learn lessons, but not all. President Obama is visiting Israel very shortly, and I hope that he addresses this issue directly with our very special allies.
Because Israel is in this front line position, they have the potential to involve the entire United States, their largest benefactor, in a War that we may not want to be in. The United States alone will decide whether or not we declare War against Iran, and we cannot afford for Israel to usurp that decision without serious ramifications.
